As a high school English teacher (So. Much. Grading.) who put herself through graduate school while working full time, I know what it feels like to bust your ass and feel constantly depleted. Whether it’s the stress of financial burden or feeling too tired to feed yourself a home-cooked meal, that stress is real and dangerous to your health (stress weakens our immune system).

I legitimately spent the greater part of the last decade trying to crack the code on why I was too tired to spend quality time with my loved ones and came across something that soothed my stress in a way that neither exercise or bubble baths were able to accomplish: Mindfulness. It started with a deep breath before the beginning of the school day and began to permeate into everything I did. I even started bringing mindfulness lessons into my 11th and 12th-grade classroom and taught these strategies to my colleagues as well and soon learned that this procedure didn’t just work for me, but it worked for other stressed-out people too.

We don’t need more hours in the day. We just need to be presently aware of the day and our state of being as it’s happening.

Daniela is an educator and mindfulness practitioner who helps her students overcome stress and overwhelm so they can achieve their health goals with calm, ease, and clarity.

She’s passionate about supporting her students because she knows firsthand the struggle of not having enough time in the day. Teaching 150 students daily and juggling the demands of modern public school teaching, she saw firsthand how detrimental stress is to teenagers and adults alike. She began teaching mindfulness techniques she used on herself to students and colleagues and watched her community slowly transform. Over 1,000 students have improved their state of mind by using her simple approaches.
